Our story begins in our Early Years Program – Nursery,
JK and SK – where our littlest thinkers begin to explore
the world around them. Decades of research on the
Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education have
been unequivocal: children learn best not by rote, but
through investigation, discovery and self-expression.
There are no cookie-cutter approaches here. Teachers tailor lessons to fit the needs
and interests of each class and each child. Small groups mean little voices are heard.
We encourage endless questions, unbridled curiosity and tireless exploring. Because
that's how children develop strong, analytical and imaginative minds.
Our newly-renovated Early Years W ing is not just a place, but a space that shapes
learning. Classrooms, called 'third teachers,' go beyond desks and walls. They
are living and changing systems that teach real-life problem solving and promote
constant inquiry. As the children learn literacy, numeracy, language, Judaics,
science, music, arts and physical education, they do so in an environment brimming
with natural light, wide-open areas and cozy nooks. The classroom is filled with both
single purpose toys and "loose parts" – natural materials meant
for experimentation.
Light tables and smart TVs
introduce technology.
Thanks to Reggio Emilia, our Early
Years graduates begin first grade
far ahead of the pack.
