GRADE TWO
THE MEANING OF FREEDOM
Students lead a Pesach seder that showcases their
learning and tells the story of our exodus from
Egypt through blessings, songs, plays and dance.
In preparation, students discuss the importance of
freedom — then and now. The table is filled with
delicious food, seder plates, hand-crafted decorations
and the beautiful voices of children.
ISRAEL AT SCHOOL
Each year, RHA welcomes two top Israeli high school
graduates into our school, our community and our hearts.
These young people defer their army service for one
year to be part of the UJA ShinShinim program. After
an extensive interview process, the best of the best are
chosen to engage students in innovative and experiential
programs that result in a deep and lifelong connection
to Israel and its people. ShinShinim share a first-hand
account of Israel and nurture meaningful personal
connections relating to contemporary Israeli life.
CHESS FOR CHAMPIONS
If you want to learn the game of chess, just ask a second
grader at RHA. For 10 weeks, the acclaimed Chess
Institute of Canada teaches our students to concentrate,
strategize and work in teams. Along with fun-filled
competition, our chess masters acquire complex
reasoning skills.
CRITICAL THINKING
Students are equipped with the skills to think critically.
They are challenged to find ways to make their lives and
school better. Students work on a STEM project to create
an inclusive playground. They visit a park, investigate
characteristics of different playgrounds and learn about
accessibility, simple machines and materials required to
build equipment. Students are then ready to design new
structures.
