"THE TIKKUN OLAM PROJECTS HAVE HELPED ME TRULY UNDERSTAND WHAT IT MEANS TO REPAIR THE WORLD." – Sophie Sklar, Class of 2012 Tikkun Olam, repairing the world, defines us as responsible global citizens. An integral part of RHA learning, Tikkun Olam opens our children's eyes to the world around them and teaches them to live their lives with kindness, charity, empathy and gratitude. Every class at RHA is involved in social responsibility, cultural diversity and appreciating the plight of others. Our students support families and charities in need with donations of money and supplies. School-wide Tzedaka initiatives include clothing drives, packing Passover boxes for disadvantaged families, book collections for Toronto's less advantaged schools, letter-writing to victims of natural disasters, poppy sales for veterans, concerts for the aged at Baycrest, and projects for children's hospitals. Our students sit on committees ranging from Social Action to Eco Club. As part of our Read-a-Thon, 10% of the money raised goes to a middle school in need of books. And as our grade eight students prepare to graduate, they add to our Legacy Project by helping families provide their children with an RHA education. Our sense of citizenship is predicated on the notion that multiple viewpoints, with a strong commitment to global awareness, is essential in today's world. t h i r t e e n
