7 7 A WARM WELCOME The first years of school can be tough on some children, so our curriculum nurtures as much as it teaches. We focus on peer group skills, making friends and resolving conflicts. While learning is important, so too are children who have strong self- esteem and the ability to express their emotions. LITERACY AND NUMERACY Amidst student-led play, our youngest students visit literacy and numeracy centres. Through song, performance, show-and-tell and hands-on activities, our children are given the foundations of language and numbers as they build gross and fine motor skills. We know that children learn at a different pace, so we customize what each student learns and when they learn it. SEE WHAT WE'RE UP TO! We keep in touch through Seesaw, an app that offers easy parent communication. Not simply pictures and videos (although we love those), Seesaw captures moments of learning and reflects the Reggio Emilia view that meaningful documentation provides a deep understanding of our students' interests and everyday experiences. IT'S SHABBAT! Each week our little emas and abbas light the Shabbat candles and sing the blessings. Then they eat challah. A N D W E ' R E J U S T G E T T I N G S T A R T E D Y E A R 1
