28 By Middle School, students are well on their way to becoming responsible and productive contributors to society. We continue the journey by developing key skill sets: MIDDLE SCHOOL GRADES 6 TO 8 Global Citizenship — awareness of the wider world, sustainability and the importance of playing an active role in the global community Innovation and Creativity — problem-solving, analytical thinking and creativity Technology — digital skills, coding, robotics, digital citizenship and cyber security safety Interpersonal Skills — emotional intelligence including empathy, cooperation, negotiation, leadership and social awareness With Grade 6 come some big changes. Our students get lockers (which they love), they change classes each period, they run for student council and join clubs like yearbook, eco-committee and music. By Grade 7, the focus is on becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah and taking on a greater leadership role at school. And in Grade 8, our graduating class runs the student council and creates a reflection project representing their journey at RHA. Our students prepare to enter high school as deep thinkers, confident leaders and broad- minded global citizens. That's because our educational experience is personalized and self- paced, student-driven, teacher-facilitated and peer-supported. It includes an arts block that inspires creativity and problem-solving. It offers a choice of Bible studies in either English or Hebrew. The advanced math program has been designed by a chair in math studies. A revamped Judaic studies program makes Jewish heritage relevant to students living in a modern and diverse world. And it is intensely focused on STEM learning. The Middle School years bring to fruition the skills and qualities we instilled in our students from Nursery onwards. By the time the students graduate from Grade 8, we see the predictors of lifelong success in action — critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, global citizenship, communication and character. We watch the students take the reins and lead our school and we can't help but be amazed by the globally-minded and locally-rooted young adults they have become. Our graduates are instilled with a passion for lifelong learning. We never stop being proud.
