GRADE SEVEN
DISCOVERING MY ROOTS /
SHORASHIM
This multidisciplinary program in Judaic and
general studies has students dive deep into their
family's story in a personal way. Teamed with
ANU, Museum of the Jewish People in Tel Aviv,
the program engages students with their unique
Jewish identity. Using technology, research and
presentation skills, students trace their family tree,
learn the meaning of their names, interview family
and reflect on artifacts.
FINANCIAL LITERACY
Using interactive software, group activities and
discussion, a specialist teaches students the basics of
financial life. The seeds of financial ethics take root.
Students look at real-world questions including:
• How do we save money?
• What is debt?
• Why do we pay taxes?
• How much does it cost to feed, clothe and house a family?
EFFECTS OF OIL SPILLS
Students learn about the causes and effects of oil spills
and ways to remove oil from water. They research and
select the most effective ways and share why. Students
then research a well-known oil spill and its effects on
the environment. They compare findings with their
experiment and review the methods that most resemble
the famous oil spill clean-up. Students then present
recommendations on how to avoid future spills.
DEBATING FOR GOLD
Students on RHA's Debate Team learn the art and
science of advocacy and rebuttal while they hone their
presentation skills to compete in an annual tournament.
RHA has a proud debating legacy — our students take
home gold year after year.
