A M E S S A G E F R O M S H E L L Y M A R K E L , P R E S I D E N T , B O A R D O F D I R E C T O R S This past year at RHA has been one of amazing achievements by our students, our faculty and staff, and our community. Our students made giant strides with unprecedented results in provincial tests like EQAO and national and international contests where they scored major wins. Our faculty and staff worked tirelessly and brilliantly to get us ready for CAIS accreditation – and the evaluation process went off without a hitch (now we wait for results!). Our community, as always, came together to serve lunch, raise money, host shinshinim, celebrate simchas, support our teachers and cheer on our kids. Every year we get stronger. I am proud to report that we are projecting to complete yet another fiscal year with a balanced budget. This is a very significant measure of success and we have achieved this financial milestone while still delivering a rich dual-curriculum with so many extras to enhance our children's educational experience. What's more, we have amazing new programs on the horizon. Our new Early Years Program is modeled on one that is recognized as a world-class approach to early childhood education, and includes a revamp of both how we teach and the classrooms in which we teach. While our Middle School is already producing graduates who dominate in high school, we are upping the calibre even further with new teachers and new scholarship. As I near the end of my term as president, I am grateful to have worked with the dedicated members of the RHA Board who not only gave so freely of their time and effort, but also approached their job with the utmost professionalism - providing the guidance and governance to ensure that our school is always looking for ways to do and be better. I welcome Craig Rimer who next steps into the president role. We have worked together these last two years with a common vision and I am excited to see RHA continue its trajectory under his direction. Finally, I am deeply thankful to our teachers, educators and administrative staff who provide the academic backbone and our uniquely nurturing environment. They partner with our amazing parent volunteers who, every single day, create the warm and vibrant community that envelops our children. It's been an honour and a privilege to play my small part in helping RHA be the school where extraordinary things happen. To all of you, I say Todah Rabah. Shelly Markel, President
