A MESSAGE FROM THE HEAD OF SCHOOL, CLAIRE SUMERLUS At RHA, our goal is to produce graduates who are original thinkers and principled leaders. That's why we have a cutting-edge curriculum that teaches our children how to think critically and creatively, and to work collaboratively. It's why we teach our students to explore, debate, challenge and discover. But that's not all. We are a community you just won't find anywhere else. We're a place where everyone knows your name. Where building our students' self-esteem, integrity and leadership is woven into our pedagogy. Where instilling a Jewish identity, Ahavat Yisrael, לא רשי תב הא, and a connection to the state of Israel are core values and daily practices. Where helping those in need and celebrating each other's simchas is just part of who we are and what we do. With the final month of school upon us, we look back on the 2014-2015 school year and thank all the students, parents, teachers, staff and volunteers who made this a remarkable year. Thank you to the Board of Directors who are committed to making RHA a true 21st century school. Our president, Shelly Markel, now moves to the position of past president. I am grateful for her constant leadership and her ability to navigate our school so successfully through a time of great transition. As Emerson says, "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." And that's just what Shelly has done. She has challenged us all to reach higher. Thank you to the Parents' Association. Every day, the PA is there, headed by the remarkable Rhonda Charlat, not only pulling off what sometimes seems the impossible, but creating a welcoming and nurturing culture along the way. And finally, thank you to the teaching and administrative staff whose incredible effort to get our students, our curriculum and our school ready for review by CAIS has brought amazing initial feedback. As we wait for the official word, we are already proud that Robbins Hebrew Academy is the first Ontario Jewish day school to be a candidate for CAIS accreditation, putting us in an elite group of the country's best private schools. Next year brings even more opportunities. New programs, new extra- curricular activities, new ways of growing our school and new ways of producing graduates who go on to take the world by storm. I can't wait. t h r e e Claire Sumerlus, Head of School
